Asim Horozić exhibition opens in Sarajevo

The multimedia exhibition ‘Buntovnik i note: Hommage maestru Asimu Horoziću’ has opened at the Novi Grad Municipality Gallery in Sarajevo. Curated by Goran Grebo, this is the first exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the prominent composer following his death in 2023.

The exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Museum of Sarajevo and the Novi Grad Municipality. It is based on research into a legacy of over 200 items—including personal belongings, photographs, books, and handwritten musical scores—which the Museum of Sarajevo acquired from Horozić’s family.

During the opening, conductor and composer Emir Nuhanović described Horozić as a musical genius who integrated ethnic motifs and folk elements into his compositions. Notable works mentioned include the opera ‘Hasanaginica’, which was the first Bosnian opera translated into Turkish, and the clarinet concerto ‘Kapija’.
