Asis Elektronik wins İzmir public transport payment system tender

Asis Elektronik ve Bilişim Sistemleri Şirketi has won a tender to manage and upgrade the electronic fare collection system (EÜTS) for İzmir's public transportation. The contract, valued at 818,750,000 TL, was awarded by İzmir İnovasyon ve Teknoloji AŞ, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.

The 53-month agreement, which extends until 2031, covers the operation, maintenance, and technical development of the infrastructure used by İzmirim Kart and Bilet 35. This includes buses, metro, trams, ferries, suburban trains, and cable cars. The project aims to modernize the system by integrating new technologies such as EMV contactless bank/credit cards, QR codes, and NFC.

As part of the technical requirements, the contractor will provide 2,852 validators, 1,975 driver control panels, 10 inspection devices, and 5,000 SAM cards. The upgrade focuses on enhancing performance, security, and user experience through improved mobile and contactless payment options. The contract also mandates strict response times for technical issues and requires the company to report any data breaches or cyberattacks to the administration within one hour.
