Askanews launches new podcast series on women in science and music

Askanews has introduced two new podcast series, ‘Direttrici d’Orchestra’ (Female Conductors) and ‘Italiane della scienza’ (Italian Women in Science), during a roundtable event in Rome. The presentation serves as a prelude to the Podcasting Festival, which will take place in Milan on October 2 and 3, where Askanews is serving as a media partner.

Alessandra Quattrocchi, the agency's head of in-depth reporting, stated that the series aim to provide portraits of women that reflect a transforming Italy. Featured participants included Annamaria Nassisi, a manager at Thales Alenia Space, who discussed her ‘Donne fra le stelle’ (Women among the stars) initiative designed to encourage younger generations to pursue STEM subjects.

Editorial director Paolo Mazzanti noted the growing mass dimension of the medium, citing estimates that there are approximately 50,000 podcasts in Italy with 18 million stable listeners.
