Asker municipality promotes circular economy and reuse

The climate advocacy group Besteforeldrenes Klimaaksjon (BKA) is promoting responsible consumption and circular economy practices in Norway. The group recently held an awareness campaign in Asker, a municipality noted for its long-term commitment to circular economy and reuse initiatives.

Asker is currently participating in an EU Interreg-supported project alongside communities in Denmark and Sweden to explore new solutions based on the EU 'Right to Repair' directive. The municipality has already demonstrated the economic benefits of these policies; by mapping and reusing existing furniture during a relocation of 700 employees across 25 sites, the municipality saved 16 million NOK.

In addition to circular economy efforts, BKA is focusing on food waste prevention through public engagement and educational activities aimed at reducing overconsumption.
