Aslı Baş murder investigation trial postponed in Turkey

The legal proceedings regarding the suspicious 2010 death of former Miss Model of Turkey winner Aslı Baş have been postponed to January 21, 2027. The hearing at the Muğla 1st High Criminal Court was delayed after the family and their lawyers submitted excuses for their absence.

Aslı Baş died on July 21, 2010, after falling from a 6.5-meter balcony at a villa in Bodrum. While initial reports suggested a fall, her father, Mehmet Yavuz Baş, maintains that she was a victim of murder. He has highlighted inconsistencies in witness testimonies and emergency calls made on the night of the incident.

Mehmet Yavuz Baş expressed frustration over the 16-year legal battle, noting that technical difficulties have prevented the full resolution of phone records from the time of death. He questioned the length of the proceedings, stating, “Are they waiting for me to die? Will the court conclude when I die?”
