ASL CN2 launches nutrition programs for parents and pregnancy health

The ASL CN2 health authority has launched a series of informative sessions for expectant and new parents focused on healthy nutrition during pregnancy and the introduction of complementary feeding for infants. These sessions, organized by the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service (SIAN) in collaboration with pediatric, obstetric, and gynecological departments, aim to promote healthy lifestyles during the critical first 1,000 days of life.

Available in both online and in-person formats, the meetings will cover nutritional needs, food safety, and the correct methods for introducing solid foods to prevent risks such as choking. Scheduled sessions include online meetings on September 9 and October 28, as well as in-person gatherings in Bra and Alba.

In a separate public health effort, the Italian Society of Neonatology (SIN) is highlighting the importance of preventing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Experts emphasize that prenatal alcohol exposure can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system, leading to cognitive and behavioral difficulties. Health officials stress that the safest choice during pregnancy is zero alcohol consumption to prevent these entirely avoidable developmental issues.
