Asl di Pescara appoints single medical director for two hospitals
The Asl di Pescara has appointed a single medical director to oversee both the Penne and Popoli hospitals, a move that contradicts recent corporate regulations.
According to corporate resolution no. 1381, approved on August 3, 2026, the agency was mandated to establish two separate medical management units—one for Penne and one for Popoli. However, a subsequent resolution (no. 1293) issued on August 5, 2026, appointed a single individual, Dr. Del Duca, to manage both facilities without specifying a primary hospital affiliation.
Antonio Blasioli, Vice President of the Abruzzo Regional Council, criticized the decision, stating it penalizes the local hospitals and deviates from the organizational framework outlined by DM 70. Critics have long advocated for dedicated medical leadership at both sites, having previously escalated concerns to the Nas (Carabinieri for Health Protection).
