Asl di Teramo renovates mental health center through national art project
The Asl di Teramo has been recognized as one of three healthcare providers in Italy to receive an award through the national project ‘Coloriamo i luoghi della salute del cervello’ (Let's color the places of brain health). The initiative, promoted by the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck Italia, utilized the ‘People in Mind’ graphic arts competition to redesign spaces within the Teramo Mental Health Center (Csm).
The renovation focused on the waiting room and the group rehabilitation room, using art and color to create a more welcoming and functional environment. Local health officials, including Asl General Director Maurizio Di Giosia and Regional Health Authority Director Maurizio Brucchi, attended the inauguration.
The project aims to humanize care settings and combat the social stigma associated with psychiatric treatment. Officials noted that an inviting, well-lit, and acoustically treated environment can directly reduce patient stress and anxiety, fostering a better therapeutic alliance. The Teramo facility serves a diverse patient population, primarily aged 18 to 75, treating conditions such as mood disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.
