Asl proposes delaying pediatric clinic closures in Novara and Borgomanero

The Asl is attempting to delay the closure of pediatric assistance points in Novara and Borgomanero until at least April 2027. Following mobilization from local families and opposition political groups, the health authority presented a proposal to keep two pediatric clinics active from October 1, 2026, through the peak influenza season in spring.

The proposal is currently awaiting discussion and agreement with pediatric union organizations. The Asl aims to ensure service continuity while working toward a new territorial pediatric care model. The potential closure had previously sparked significant local backlash, including a petition with over 3,400 signatures. The existing Papt service provides rotating pediatric coverage on Saturday mornings, offering an alternative to emergency rooms.
