Asl Salerno clarifies 2027 appointment delay for 93-year-old patient

The Salerno Local Health Authority (Asl) has clarified a situation involving a 93-year-old patient whose dermatological appointment, originally scheduled for August 12, was reportedly postponed until February 2027.

According to the Asl, the delay was caused by the scheduled absence of the specific doctor the patient requested to see. While health agency operators attempted to find the earliest available alternative within legal guarantee periods, the patient insisted on being treated by his previous specialist. For that specific physician, the first available date was in February 2027.

The health district stated that the 2027 date was entered into the system as a placeholder to facilitate an earlier appointment request once the doctor returns from leave, given the patient's age. Officials have held discussions with the family and expressed willingness to find an alternative solution to provide a consultation within a few days, though the patient has maintained his preference for the original specialist. Dialogue with the family is ongoing.
