Časlav Gavrić re-elected president of Nezavisnost mining union

Časlav Gavrić has been re-elected as president of the Mining and Energy Branch Trade Union ‘Nezavisnost’ (GS RiE Nezavisnost) for a new five-year term. The decision was made during the union's Second Congress held in Vrnjačka Banja on October 1.

During the congress, delegates unanimously adopted a new statute, a Resolution on the Future of Mining in Serbia, and a Declaration on Environmental Protection and a Just Energy Transition toward decarbonization. Gavrić emphasized that the exploitation of mineral resources essential for modern industry and the energy transition must adhere to principles of sustainable development, social justice, and environmental protection.

Representatives from the Human Resources sector of Srbija Zijđin Koper attended the event. Mirjana Popadić, head of the HR sector at Srbija Zijđin Koper, noted that the company maintains a partnership with representative unions and expressed confidence that the shared experience between the company and the union would facilitate open dialogue regarding the challenges facing the mining sector.
