Asmallworld increases operating profit despite lower revenue
Asmallworld reported an increase in operating profit (EBITDA) for the first half of 2026, despite a significant decline in revenue. Revenue fell to 5.6 million Swiss francs from 8.8 million francs in the previous year period.
The company attributed the revenue drop to the discontinuation of non-strategic activities, such as hospitality projects and certain event activities, as it shifts focus toward its core membership business and higher-margin services. Additionally, revenue from membership products related to Emirates Skywards decreased, partly due to regional travel disruptions caused by conflict in the Middle East.
Through a strategic transformation involving a review of personnel and technology structures, the group achieved cost savings of more than 20 percent. These measures, combined with a shift toward more profitable services, helped increase EBITDA by 11 percent to 0.47 million francs. Despite lower revenue, the company's membership base grew by 23 percent compared to the previous year.
