ASML to expand Japan operations and workforce amid semiconductor growth

ASML is expanding its presence in Japan to support the country’s growing semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. Shojiro Fujiwara, President of ASML Japan, stated that the Japanese market covers nearly all semiconductor sectors, ranging from memory and image sensors to advanced logic and power semiconductors.

To meet increasing demand, ASML Japan plans to grow its workforce from approximately 500 employees to 700 by fiscal year 2030. The company aims to strengthen its support systems, human resources, and logistics, while deepening collaborations with domestic equipment and material manufacturers and research institutions.

Separately, ASML Holding N.V. reported recent transactions under its ongoing share buyback program. Between August 31 and September 4, 2026, the company repurchased several blocks of shares at weighted average prices ranging from approximately €1,420 to €1,468 per share.
