Asoban calls for greater transparency from Paraguay's Central Bank
The Association of Banks of Paraguay (Asoban) has expressed dissatisfaction with the responses provided by the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) regarding the supervision of the national financial system. While acknowledging that the BCP met institutional deadlines for responding to Congressional inquiries, Asoban stated that the information provided was insufficient to resolve key concerns.
A primary point of contention involves credit exposure. Asoban is seeking clarity on how financial entities manage credit exposure to companies linked to their own corporate groups, emphasizing that these operations must strictly adhere to the Banking Law and existing regulations.
The association maintains that its requests are driven by institutional concerns regarding the solvency and stability of the banking system rather than commercial interests. Asoban further argued that responses of such significance should carry the express approval of the BCP Board of Directors to ensure authority and certainty.
