Asociación Hermanos Saíz and British Council launch DJ scholarship in Cuba

The Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) and the British Council have launched the Edesio Alejandro scholarship, a new initiative aimed at supporting emerging Cuban DJs and electronic music producers. The scholarship honors the legacy of Edesio Alejandro (1958–2025) and seeks to foster new artistic expressions and cultural exchange within the electroacoustic music scene.

Cuban residents between the ages of 16 and 35 are eligible to apply. Participants must submit an original mix or production lasting between 15 and 30 minutes. The application process strictly prohibits the use of artificial intelligence in the creative process. The deadline for submissions is October 20.

The winner will receive a professional DJ console or controller, an official diploma, and promotional material produced by the organizing institutions. Finalists will be required to perform live on November 7 and 8 at the Pabellón Cuba during the Juan Blanco National Electronic Music Conference. Results will be promoted via Radio Taíno.
