Italy launches mental health and brain health awareness initiatives

Various Italian healthcare institutions and organizations are launching initiatives to mark World Mental Health Day and the (H) Open Weekend on brain health, promoted by Fondazione Onda ETS. These programs aim to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and provide early diagnosis for neurological and psychological conditions.

In Trapani, the ASP is offering free consultations with psychologists and nutritionists to address eating disorders. Similarly, the Neuromed institute in Pozzilli is providing free neuropsychological, psychiatric, and neurological screenings. In Benevento, the AORN San Pio is offering services for conditions such as migraines, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Cultural and community-based approaches are also being utilized. In Rome, the Asl Roma 2 has inaugurated a photography exhibition titled ‘La salute mentale, oggi’ at the Tuscolano Community House, using art as a therapeutic tool. Other regional events include a mental health day at the former San Martino Psychiatric Hospital in Como and a wellness event in Emilia-Romagna focusing on psychological well-being in sports and schools.
