Aspe launches bid for European Sports Villa 2028 at gala

The 39th Gala del Deporte was held in Plaza Mayor, Aspe, bringing together athletes, clubs, coaches and local officials. The ceremony highlighted the official presentation of Aspe’s candidacy to become a European Sports Villa in 2028, unveiling three logo proposals that will be voted on by residents and sports clubs.

Awards included Best Club for Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Kayma, Best Team for the women’s youth squad of CD Atlético de Aspe, Best Athlete for Luz Ferrández Montesinos, Best Athlete with Disability for Manuel Jesús Cabanillas Cruz (gold at the 2025 Special Olympics Winter Games), Best Promising Athlete for Aníbal Botella Sánchez and Best Coach for national pickleball coach Esteban Martínez Santonja. Special mentions honored long‑time contributors such as Joaquín Cerdán Díez and others, while the local Union Deportiva La Coca celebrated its 70th anniversary and CF La Coca its 40th.
