Aspen’s Stars Above event draws visitors as summer tourism thrives
The annual Stars Above Aspen event returned to the top of Ajax on Aug. 10, marking more than a decade of nighttime sky programs in partnership with Aspen Snowmass and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Attendees enjoyed sunset yoga, a Fiske Planetarium minidome, guided telescope stations, and other activities timed to the Perseid meteor shower, which peaks Aug. 12‑13. Tickets were $32, free for children 10 and under, and organizers highlighted the importance of dark‑sky preservation and reducing light pollution.
Aspen continued to attract summer visitors with luxury lodging, high‑end boutiques and extensive hiking trails across its four mountains. Guests can explore Victorian homes, local art shops, farmers’ markets and cultural venues such as the Aspen Music Festival, underscoring the town’s reputation as a year‑round destination for both affluent travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.
