Aspyr releases Lord of the Rings: War in the North Legacy Edition

Aspyr has released the Legacy Edition of the 2011 action RPG ‘The Lord of the Rings: War in the North’ for modern platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Originally developed by Snowblind Studios and published by Warner Bros., the remaster introduces technical improvements such as support for 60 FPS on most consoles, updated textures, improved shadow resolution, and quality-of-life features like auto-saves and revised AI.

Aspyr confirmed that this release is the first step in a broader strategy to bring more classic titles from the franchise to current-generation hardware. While specific upcoming titles have not been named, the studio indicated that fans can expect more releases in the future. The remaster aims to make the cult classic accessible again after it was removed from digital storefronts in 2019 due to expiring licenses.
