Assad Al-Hamlawi joins Palestine national team for friendly tournament

Palestinian striker Assad Al-Hamlawi is leaving Universitatea Craiova temporarily to join the Palestine national team for a friendly tournament in Basra, Iraq. The tournament, held from November 10 to 18, serves as preparation for the 2027 Asian Cup.

Al-Hamlawi, 26, was called up by coach Ihab Abu Jazar for matches involving Iran, Palestine, Iraq, and Lebanon. The player has previously performed strongly for his national side, scoring five goals in recent friendlies against New Zealand, Tajikistan, and China.

In domestic competition, Al-Hamlawi recently helped Universitatea Craiova secure a 2-0 victory against Egnatia in the Conference League. His performance, including a notable jump during the match, has drawn significant attention from fans and scouts, including interest from the Egyptian club Pyramids.
