Assad Al-Hamlawi Rejects Transfer Rumors, Prioritises Craiova’s Champions League Push

Palestinian striker Assad Al-Hamlawi, 25, has been a key goal‑scorer for Universitatea Craiova, netting 11 goals in 33 league matches and five in the Conference League this season. His performances attracted interest from several clubs, including Egypt’s Al Ahly Cairo, Poland’s Legia Warsaw, Greece’s AEK Athens, Germany’s Mainz and Belgium’s Club Brugge. Al‑Hamlawi’s agent told Egyptian television that a move to Egypt is not in the player’s plans and emphasized that the striker wants to remain in Europe. He is focused on Craiova’s upcoming Champions League qualifiers, with his contract running until June 2028 and his market value listed at €1.4 million on Transfermarkt.

The club’s recent domestic success – winning the Romanian league and cup – has heightened attention on its squad, but Al‑Hamlawi has reiterated his commitment to the team and to competing in European competition rather than pursuing a transfer abroad.
