Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma addresses Assam-Arunachal border dispute

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the relationship between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh transcends their interstate borders. Highlighting the long-standing cultural and familial ties between the people of both states, Sarma emphasized that these connections are built on mutual respect and affection.

Regarding the ongoing border dispute, the Chief Minister noted significant progress has been made through institutional mechanisms and dialogue. He reported that only 52 villages remain as part of the unresolved boundary issues. Both state governments remain committed to resolving the remaining differences through continued discussion and friendship to ensure lasting peace in the region.
