Assam CM reviews ASTC and ASWC operations

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called for the modernisation and financial strengthening of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and the Assam State Warehousing Corporation (ASWC).

During a review at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati, Sarma directed ASTC authorities to pursue business diversification and asset optimisation to ensure long-term sustainability. Specific recommendations included monetising existing assets while retaining ownership and expanding corporate opportunities, such as providing transport services to corporate houses and other institutions.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for the ASWC to upgrade its godowns to improve efficiency and revenue. The review covered various operational and financial parameters, including manpower, fleet strength, and revenue streams, with the goal of making these state-run organisations more responsive to modern requirements.
