Assam Flood Insurance Claims Fast‑Tracked by Regulators and Insurers

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) issued directives for insurers to accelerate claim settlement in the Assam districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat after severe flooding. Insurers are to mobilise surveyors, loss adjustors and investigators, appoint senior executives to coordinate with the Chief Secretary, and provide 24‑hour helplines and district‑level claims desks.

Canara HSBC Life Insurance announced a simplified, faster claims process for flood‑affected policyholders in Assam, relaxing documentation requirements such as death certificates and identity proof to speed financial assistance to families.

Both measures aim to ensure quicker payouts and relief for thousands of residents whose homes, businesses and livelihoods were damaged by the floods.
