Assam flood rescues go viral as man saves cow and another clings to coconut tree

During the severe monsoon floods that have inundated Assam, two dramatic rescues were captured on video and spread widely online. In Sivasagar district, a local man waded through neck‑deep, fast‑moving water to free a cow trapped among debris, pulling the animal to safety before standing in the water himself.

In the Nazira area, another flood victim survived an all‑night ordeal by clutching a coconut tree after floodwaters rose to chest height. He remained aloft for about nine hours before rescue teams were able to bring him down at dawn. The floods have affected more than 300,000 people across the state and caused at least 78 deaths, prompting extensive rescue efforts and widespread social‑media attention.
