Assam Floods Impact Over 3.3 Lakh People Across Seven Districts
The monsoon floods in Assam have affected more than 332,000 people across seven districts—Shivsagar, Charai‑Dev, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Kamrup (Metro). The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reports that 622 villages and about 45,342 hectares of agricultural land remain underwater.
The latest surge claimed seven lives in Shivsagar district, raising the state’s flood‑related death toll for the year to 75. No missing‑person reports have been received. ASDMA has opened 115 relief shelters, including 81 relief camps and 34 distribution centres, currently housing 32,477 evacuees, most of them in Shivsagar followed by Jorhat, Golaghat and Charai‑Dev. Medical teams, SDRF personnel and volunteers continue rescue and relief operations, distributing essential items such as grain, drinking water, baby food, medicines and cleaning supplies. The agency is monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with district administrations to ensure uninterrupted relief and rehabilitation.
