Assam Government Approves ₹41.67 crore Subsidy for Flood‑Hit PM Surya Ghar Beneficiaries

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Assam state government has approved a pending state subsidy of ₹41.67 crore under the PM Surya Ghar free‑electricity scheme. The funds will benefit 9,289 eligible households in four districts that were severely affected by recent floods.

The subsidy is to be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) by Tuesday. The announcement comes as relief and rehabilitation operations continue, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other agencies providing food, shelter, medical aid and restoring essential services.
