Assam implements industrial reforms and entrepreneurship funding

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced significant economic initiatives aimed at fostering industrial growth and entrepreneurship in the state. Speaking at the ICC Global Business Summit 2026, Sarma reported that the state’s single-window clearance system has facilitated over 2.5 million approvals to create a more predictable business environment.

The government is actively working to convert investment commitments into tangible economic activity. Following the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, the state received investment commitments worth Rs 5.80 lakh crore, of which Rs 3.5 lakh crore has been implemented on the ground within one year. Additionally, more than 3,700 new factories have been registered in Assam since May 2021.

In a separate effort to support local talent, the state government distributed approximately Rs 278 crore to more than 82,000 young entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 1.0 and 2.0 programs. Financial assistance included Rs 2 lakh for general categories and Rs 5 lakh for professional categories, alongside skill development and marketing support, to encourage youth to become job creators.
