Assam introduces AI partnerships and recorded teaching for schools

The Assam government is implementing several technology-driven initiatives to modernize its school education system. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the introduction of a recorded teaching system specifically for students in Classes 9 to 12. This system is designed to supplement traditional classroom instruction with structured, digital resources, providing additional academic support for students at critical educational stages.

To support this transition, teachers will undergo online training to integrate digital tools and recorded lessons into their regular instruction. The government aims to build digital capabilities among educators to ensure technology serves as an effective instructional method rather than just an additional resource.

In a separate move, the state has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six organizations to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the school ecosystem. Key partnerships include Google AI for teacher empowerment, and a collaboration between IIT Madras and Bodhan AI, which aims to train approximately 100,000 teachers for Grades 6–12 by May 2027. Other partnerships involve Wadhwani AI for literacy assessment, Educate Girls for student retention, EkStep–AXL for personalized learning, and Canva Education to foster digital literacy and creativity.
