Assam Jatiya Parishad launches week-long programme to honor Zubeen Garg

The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has launched a week-long statewide initiative, ‘Zubeen’s Assam… From Melody to Resolve’, to commemorate the life and legacy of singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg. Running from September 13 to 19, the programme aims to instill Garg’s humanitarian values, social commitment, and vision for Assam in the younger generation.

The observance features daily themes: ‘Nahor Day’ on September 13, ‘Humanity Day’ on September 14 involving blood donation camps, ‘Book Day’ on September 15, ‘Day of the People’ on September 16, ‘Day of the New’ on September 17, ‘Day of National Resolve’ on September 18, and ‘Zubeen Day’ on September 19.

Key activities include planting one lakh saplings across the state, literary discussions, and youth-centric programmes featuring discussions on music, poetry, and Assamese nationalism. On the final day, 101 national volunteers will travel to Zubeen Khetra to pay tribute. Additionally, the AJP has called for justice regarding Garg’s death and urged the government to expedite the construction of Zubeen Khetra.
