Assam Minister Bimal Borah faces removal demand over flood relief distribution

Raijor Dal President and MLA Akhil Gogoi demanded the removal of Assam Minister Bimal Borah as the guardian minister of Sivasagar, alleging widespread irregularities and political favouritism in the distribution of flood relief in the Sivasagar and Charaideo districts. Gogoi claimed that genuine flood‑affected families were excluded while ineligible beneficiaries received aid, and that relief materials were handed out through BJP workers and party‑affiliated ward members.

He also said a BJP ward member misappropriated supplies, that a whistle‑blower was arrested, and urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to have neutral authorities prepare beneficiary lists to ensure transparent and impartial distribution of the announced Rs 15,000 assistance to all eligible households.
