Assam Police Arrest Multiple Fake Doctors in Anti‑Quackery Drive

Assam authorities intensified anti‑quackery operations. The Antiquackery & Vigilance Cell of the Assam Council of Medical Registration, together with Assam Police, arrested a number of individuals posing as doctors in several districts.

Among those detained were L. Pratap Singha in Cachar, who claimed to have learned practice from his father and wrote, "I see some pateints rarely and I have not done any course for that. I have learn to practise from my father." N. Saoud in Goalpara, a repeat offender, used a bogus certificate from a fictitious institute, N. Islam in Udalguri, and Bilal Ahmed in Hojai. The cell said the tally of quacks apprehended has risen to more than 69. The raids involved seizure of prescriptions, medicines and falsified documents.
