Assam Police conduct major drug seizures in Kokrajhar and Dibrugarh

Assam authorities have conducted two significant anti-narcotics operations resulting in the seizure of large quantities of cannabis and multiple arrests.

In Kokrajhar district, the Assam Police seized approximately 2,098 kg of ganja, valued between Rs 11–12 crore, at the Damrapara Checking Point. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reported that the contraband was concealed under bamboo to evade detection. Two individuals were apprehended during the operation.

In a separate incident in Dibrugarh, police arrested a drug trafficker in Jokai Chabbis Gharian village. Authorities recovered 966 grams of suspected cannabis, ₹1,44,270 in cash, a digital weighing machine, and packaging materials. The operation, led by CDSP Amit Ranjan Barman, is intended to disrupt local distribution networks.
