Assam Police seize 37 kg of gold worth ₹55 crore and counterfeit currency worth ₹33.6 lakh
Assam police carried out two major seizure operations. In Guwahati, officers recovered 37 kg of 24‑carat gold valued at about ₹55 crore and arrested a 32‑year‑old man from Maharashtra suspected of links to an international smuggling network. The investigation also uncovered four mobile phones that are being examined for evidence.
Separately, in Lakhimpur district, police seized counterfeit banknotes with a face value of ₹33.59 lakh from a vehicle traveling toward Guwahati.
