Police in Assam's Dhubri district arrested two men and confiscated psychotropic medicines, including triprolidine hydrochloride, codeine cough syrup, Spas Plus capsules and nitrazepam tablets, along with Rs 5,000 in cash, during a raid on July 7, 2026.

In a coordinated operation across Barpeta, Howly, Sarthebari and Barpeta Road, authorities detained five additional suspects and seized heroin, Yaba tablets, large quantities of cough syrup, cash totaling Rs 42,940 and mobile phones. All arrests are being pursued under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
