Assam prepares for Khel Maharan 3.0 sporting event
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reviewed preparations for the upcoming Khel Maharan 3.0 sporting event. The competitions are scheduled to begin at the Gaon Panchayat level on November 7, with state-level events expected to take place in Guwahati involving more than 9,800 athletes.
A key feature of this edition is the Sishu Krida Samaroh, a children's sports festival designed for participants under 12 years of age. This initiative aims to identify emerging talent at the grassroots level. To support these athletes, 300 budding players across Assam will receive monthly scholarships of Rs 2,000 for a period of two years.
In the Kamrup district, local officials held meetings to coordinate disciplines, schedules, and venue selection at the Gaon Panchayat and Municipal Board levels. Kamrup is set to serve as a host district for zonal-level competitions, alongside Nalbari, Baksa, and Tamulpur.
