Assam ranks first in BNS implementation, says CM Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state has ranked first in the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to the National Crime and Law Enforcement Integrated Network (NCLI) dashboard of the Union Home Ministry. The BNS, which replaced the Indian Penal Code on July 1, 2024, is part of a broader overhaul of India's criminal justice framework intended to modernize investigation and prosecution procedures.

While the Chief Minister highlighted the achievement as a sign of the state's commitment to public safety and swift law enforcement, the specific parameters or comparative data used to determine the top ranking were not provided.

Separately, Chief Minister Sarma shared that his son, Nandil, has graduated with a law degree from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru. Nandil previously secured an All India Rank of 40 in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
