Assam shopkeeper arrested for alleged sexual assault of minor

A 60-year-old shopkeeper, identified as Juran Ali, has been arrested in the Dhubri district of Assam for the alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred on September 4 in Chitalkati village.

According to police, the child was lured into Ali’s shop, where the assault took place. The girl informed her family after returning home, leading to a formal complaint at the Bandihana Police Outpost. Authorities arrested Ali within hours of the report.

A medical examination confirmed the assault, noting physical injuries and bleeding. Police stated that the accused allegedly confessed during questioning, though the statement remains part of the ongoing investigation. Ali has been remanded to judicial custody as police continue to collect evidence.
