Assam teachers renew protests over salary disbursement system
The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) has renewed protests in Guwahati regarding the salary disbursement mechanism for 15,029 teachers regularized under the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD). Teachers gathered outside the Directorate of School Education (Elementary) office to protest the implementation of the SNA-SPARSH module, which they claim has replaced their previous, functional salary system.
Association president Ratul Chandra Goswami stated that the agitation follows a failed assurance from Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, who had reportedly promised that the previous system would be restored by September. Following the protest, a delegation met with Director of School Education (Elementary) Suranjana Senapati. Officials reportedly assured the association that they are working to resolve the issue at the departmental level and intend to discontinue the SNA-SPARSH mechanism for SRD teachers to restore the earlier system.
