Assam to recruit 130 veterinary doctors and 200 livestock assistants
The Assam government has announced plans to recruit 130 veterinary doctors and 200 livestock field assistants to bolster veterinary services across the state. Minister for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries Nilima Devi shared this update following a review meeting in the Bajali district.
To support the rural economy and create self-employment opportunities, the government is focusing on transitioning livestock farmers from traditional practices to scientific and commercial methods. Key initiatives include the introduction of a livestock insurance system to provide financial security for farmers and the planned upgrading of veterinary hospital infrastructure that is currently in poor condition.
In the fisheries sector, the government has prepared beneficiary lists for the distribution of fish fingerlings and feed to support local fish farmers.
