Assam wildlife conservation shows positive results, says PM Modi
During the 138th episode of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the positive impacts of nature conservation efforts in Assam.
He noted that in the Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary, land previously lost to human encroachment was reclaimed and restored to its natural state three years ago. As a result, elephant populations have begun returning to the area.
Additionally, the Prime Minister shared the success of a conservation program for the Pygmy Hog, the world’s smallest and rarest wild pig species. Starting with only six individuals, the program has successfully increased the population to over 190 through safe breeding and habitat restoration in the Himalayan foothills.
