Assam youth group AJYCP asks for Census 2027 deadline extension amid flood devastation

The Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva‑Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) submitted a memorandum to the central government requesting an extension of the online self‑enumeration deadline for Census 2027 in Assam. The appeal cites recent floods and landslides that have disrupted electricity, internet connectivity and communication services, and have left thousands of families in relief camps or damaged homes unable to complete the census process.

AJYCP also urged the centre to fast‑track housing assistance for flood‑affected beneficiaries under the 2018 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana‑Gramin survey, to grant special sanction for the flood‑hit districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo, and to approve early construction of livestock infrastructure (cattle, pig and goat sheds) under the Individual Beneficiary Scheme of the BVRAM(G) scheme. The group emphasized the need for prompt action before the 2025 state assembly elections.
