Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced tops 3 million sales and confirms New Game Plus
Ubisoft released the remake Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on 9 July 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Within its first week the title sold more than three million copies worldwide, including two million on day one, and recorded a peak of over 100 000 simultaneous players on Steam.
The strong launch prompted a series of post‑launch updates. Title Update 1.0.4, released 16 July, fixed FPS caps, lighting bugs, mission‑blocking issues and save‑load problems, especially on PC. Ubisoft also confirmed that a New Game Plus mode is in development, as revealed by game director Richard Knight in a interview with YouTuber Jor Raptor. The mode will let players restart the story with retained gear and skills and may include exclusive rewards. While the team is considering additional story content for protagonist Edward Kenway, the classic Freedom Cry expansion is not a current priority.
The commercial success and ongoing support have revived community enthusiasm, with Steam user scores climbing back to “Very Positive” after early criticism over in‑game microtransactions and technical hiccups.
