Aïssatou Diop Fall reprimanded by CORED for ethical violations

The Tribunal des pairs of the Conseil pour l’observation des règles d’éthique et de déontologie (CORED) has issued a formal reprimand to Aïssatou Diop Fall, the publication director of the Web TV PublicSn TV.

The sanction follows an investigation into two broadcasts of the program ‘Round Up’ aired in July 2026. During the July 11 episode, Fall addressed Dame Mbodj, director general of the company managing public infrastructure in the Diamniadio and Lac Rose urban poles, stating, ‘Dame, il te reste quelques jours à vivre’ (Dame, you have a few days left to live). In a subsequent broadcast on July 15, she referred to Pastef president Ousmane Sonko as ‘the cancer of the country,’ ‘the number one public enemy of this country,’ and someone who ‘must be eradicated.’

CORED ruled that these statements violated the Charter of Journalists of Senegal, which mandates respect for human dignity and prohibits defamation, insults, and the incitement of hatred. Fall contested the ruling, arguing her comments were not insulting and that the regulator ignored the ‘free and relaxed’ tone of her program. She further accused CORED of intentionally interpreting her words literally and acting as ‘militants of Pastef’ to target her.
