Asset tokenization growth shifts focus to value capture

The growth of the asset tokenization market, which involves moving real-world assets (RWA) like stocks and bonds onto the blockchain, does not automatically guarantee increased profits for specific tokens like Bitcoin or Ethereum. According to a report by Citrini Research titled ‘Breaking The Wall: Has Blockchain Finally Reached Its Moment?’, the central challenge for investors is identifying which companies, networks, or protocols will capture the economic value generated by these transactions.

While tokenization allows for 24-hour trading and the use of assets as collateral or for loans, the revenue is distributed across various players. Infrastructure providers may act as ‘tollgates’ for transactions, while distribution platforms such as banks or existing trading apps may benefit from customer access. Experts suggest that while the initial issuance of tokens may face high competition and low margins, sustainable economic value may lie in subsequent trading, lending, and collateralization stages.

Industry analysts point to several key areas of interest: blockchain networks like Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain are noted for their current leadership, while Avalanche and Canton are highlighted for institutional approaches. Furthermore, the integration of AI agents capable of managing financial activities programmatically is expected to drive demand for automated blockchain infrastructure.
