Assisi police arrest teenager for attempted fraud against elderly woman

An 18-year-old man was arrested in flagrante delicto by Carabinieri in Petrignano, Assisi, following an attempted fraud targeting a 76-year-old woman.

The incident began when the woman received a phone call from an individual impersonating a Carabinieri marshal. The caller claimed the woman’s husband was involved in a robbery and insisted on inspecting all gold jewelry in the home as part of an investigation.

Suspicious of the call and the subsequent arrival of a young man at her residence, the woman contacted emergency services. Carabinieri officers arrived at the scene and apprehended the teenager near the home before the scam could be completed. The suspect has been transferred to the Perugia-Capanne prison following orders from the Public Prosecutor's Office.
