Assisi to host Cammino 888 artistic relay on August 26

The “Cammino 888” artistic relay is scheduled to arrive in Assisi on August 26. Composed of eight female artists known as Collettiva 888, the group is completing a 376-kilometer journey that began in Curtatone on August 17.

The trek, which has traversed Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, and Tuscany, commemorates the 80th anniversary of women's suffrage and the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis. The group aims to promote values of peace, fraternity, inclusion, and hope through performances involving music, dance, and oral traditions.

The final performance will take place at 7:00 PM in front of the Abbey of San Pietro. This event coincides with a broader collaboration between Curtatone and Assisi, which includes the “Francesco nell’arte dei Madonnari” festival from August 28 to 30, featuring street artists from around the world at the Basilica of San Francesco.
