Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate plans to leave India cricket staff after England ODIs

Former Netherlands all‑rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he wishes to step down from his role as India’s assistant coach. He cited personal reasons – a desire to spend more time with his wife and three young sons in London and to reduce the extensive travel required by the Indian team’s schedule. The final appointment he could serve is the third ODI against England at Lord’s on 19 July, pending approval from the BCCI and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Ten Doeschate’s initial two‑year contract began in July 2024 and was due to run until July 2026, but he has requested an early release. The board has not yet taken a decision, and Gambhir, who recommended him for the role, is understood to value his contribution. The potential departure comes as India’s recent T20I performances have been disappointing, though the coach’s exit is reported to be unrelated to job satisfaction.
