Assistive robots support students in UK and elderly in South Korea

Assistive and social robots are seeing increased deployment in educational and elderly care settings globally. In the United Kingdom, local authorities are utilizing AV1 telepresence robots to support students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Over 2,000 units are currently in use across various regions, including Devon, Somerset, and Dorset. Morten Jorgensen, CEO of manufacturer No Isolation, reported that approximately 76 percent of AV1 users have returned to regular classroom instruction in 2026.

In South Korea, new initiatives launched in August 2026 aim to support elderly citizens living alone. In Jeonnam Province, a project has been established to implement an AI-supported healthcare system using AI-powered robot dogs in 100 isolated households.
