Associação 21/26 contests Transtejo's cash-only policy in Lisbon

The Associação 21/26 — Pelos Direitos Pessoais e de Resistência has formally contested a decision by Transtejo Soflusa to accept only card payments at the assisted ticket counters of the Terreiro do Paço Fluvial Terminal in Lisbon.

The company implemented the change on September 14, describing the move as ‘fast, secure, efficient, and sustainable’. However, the association argues that the measure negatively impacts passengers who do not use or possess bank cards, particularly those who rely on human assistance at service counters.

The association is calling for the reinstatement of cash payment options at assisted counters and has requested that the Assembleia da República urgently consider creating proportional sanctions for unjustified refusals of cash.
